Quantum of Pictures Part 3 (Colca Canyon)

They picked us up at 3:15 am so we could wait around for an hour before heading out to the deepest canyon in the world, the Canyon of Colca. It was huge and so we just hiked through a small part of it for 2 days. Really amazing and so we've uploaded way to many pictures of it.

It was amazing to see the farms up the sides of the mountans like this.

It keeps threatening to rain on us everywhere we go, but we keep lucking out! Not much of a rainy season where we've been.

Everybody has blue doors. I like it.

Looking for condors... We saw quite a few on this trip.

We hiked through a few small towns. Down there is the "Oasis" - a bunch of little hotels with pools we stopped in on the second day.

The first day was all down hill, which was awful for Gillian and Jacob's knees. So we took donkeys up the next day, which was a riot!

There were a few other people with us on the hike. One of them was an extremely aggresive ex-soldier from Israel. I'm really glad we avoided an argument. That could have turned into a real akward trip.

Our mud room the first night stayed warmer than expected. The showers were the opposite.

One of the hats lost at Lake Titicaca a few days later. Oh well, it is fun to buy hats here. Everyone sells them and they're cheap as crap.

The hospital for the towns in this valley. Otherwise, they have to hike all the way up. They pretty much just deal with pregnancy here and broken arm-type things.

Native animals to the region.

How the Incans got their eggs.

I could make a whole photo album of Jacob taking pictures.

Oasis, day 2.

I have some video of us on the donkeys I hope to get up before we get home. (in 9 days!)

The Israeli soldier insisted on racing us up the hill, only to have it end in a tie. He was satisfied with that.

They often put a ceramic Jesus head on crosses here. It is creepy.

More condors on day 3, the drive home. They are much more impressive to see for yourself because they are so huge.
They took us to a hot springs that was okay before feeding us some of the worst food in all Peru. I'm so glad none of us got tooo sick. After an amazing 2 days, it was too bad the trip had to end like that. People often walk around town with llamas in traditiona dress, so you will pay for ther picture. I stole this one from the bus home. We left for Lake Titicaca from Arequipa the next day.
