The Poor Man´s Galapagos

Humpback whales, three of them, followed us to Isla de la Plata. It was sweet but it was incredibly hard to get a picture of them. There were three tour boats on the way to the island and they were all competing to see who could be closest to the whales. Ours won so we were within maybe 35 feet of them for a while.
This guys eating lettuce we brought. mmmm, island.

Then we started our hike. It was long which was nice except we couldn{t eat until it was over. "Boring!" Not sure why I added this picture, haha. We took a million. Mainly of the the Blue Footed Boobies.

The Blue Footed Boobies! So weird!

More of them. La Niña has changed the island so that in many parts, they must nest on the trails. As you can see, there is a lot of grass. (They can't nest on grass.) Some were staring to get used to us passing, still angry about it, but about half wouldn´t fly away if you walked by. If they were on their egg, a task for which they took turns, they would never get up. Bold little weird-os.

Two people we met on the island.

Some other kind of bird, Frigit Birds I think.

Our guide, in the front there, was nice and told us many facts that I´m sure Gillian knows but she´s in Spanish lessons right now.

Baby Boobies!

Baby Other-Type-Of-Boobie. There were three types but only the Blue guys were hilarious.

What a weird baby. I hope our baby won´t be that weird.
Just hatched!

After the hike we had to jump off this cliff! With no shoes!

The crabs were hilarious and were too scared to bite us. They were back at Puerto Lopez too, the beach town from which we boated. (It was a two hour trip btw.) Back in Puerto Lopez, there were more crabs than garbage!
