Chiclayo 2 and More Ancientness

After those tombs we went to the big museum with all the cool stuff they found. No cameras allowed, but the coolest part was definatly the alien skeleton they found. It had 2 mouths they think!
At the end of the tour, there was this weird Chick-E-Cheese-type robotic performance of what the culture was like 300 years after the BC's. There was some pretty awesome pottery, the best we've seen, and jewelry and such.

This is a native Peruvian dog. It is vegetarian and is endangered. For a while people were killing them because they were so ugly, we were told, and now there is an organization trying to bring them back. That same organization is trying to get Obama to adopt one since his kids are allergic to dog hair.
They don't naturally have that cool mohawk. He must have had a grandfather of a different breed. Oh and there seems to be at least one of these dogs at every ruin we go to. Some of the cool carvings found at the sites in Chiclayo.

The final place we went to was full of the pyramid-ish structures still in the early stages of excavation. It's slow going since the government doesn't help. Here in Peru there are a few different kinds of medicore beer, brewed in different parts of the country. Naturally, people take pride in their local beer. So, it was funny to find out that they are all owned by the same company, so who cares! I guess it's an okay corporation, despite its monopoly, because it is one of the major contributors to the excavation of the ruins in Peru. Goooooo Science!

Gillian wears headbands a lot now. Also, even though it looks green in the background, I can assure you, it is the only green area for miles. Peru is a desert straight out of Blood Meridian.
We went to the biggest market we've been to in Chiclayo, just before leaving. It was really all the city had to offer. It was 4 big blocks of a vary narrow maze of shops that sold everything from goat heads (above) to hallucinagenic soul cleansings.
Here it is from the outside.
The night before we left, we met a Peruvian brother and sister who live in California and come down to Peru every year. They had been on the tour we took, but we didn't speak to them until we met them at dinner. The man spoke like Christopher Walken and was relentless in his advice. Helpful and interesting, but never ceasing. Among other things, he was adamant that we should buy some jewelry from grave robbers. He does it all the time. What the hell!
